spider lath, metal lath, rustproof lath, fiberglass lath Features and Benefits of the SpiderLath Strip System:

  • Self Furring Standoffs – Holds SpiderLath off the wall, allowing mortar to fully encapsulate the mesh. This creates a fiberglass reinforced scratch coat, providing optimal strength and flexibility. SpiderLath gives you a better wall and less cracking.
  • Nailing Guide – Eliminates random fastening by following our code approved installation guidelines
  • Gasket Sealer – Seals around fastener hole, preventing water penetration to the substrate, thus eliminating dry rot and mold.
  • Shock Absorber – Reduces the blow of the fastener, eliminating damage to the glass fibers

Features and Benefits of the SpiderLath mesh:

  • Reduced Labor Costs – SpiderLath can be installed in about ½ the time that it takes to install metal lath. Click for the SpiderLath vs. metal lath time study.
  • Corrosion Free – will not rust or corrode. SpiderLath is made from molten fiberglass and coated with Zirconium Dioxide to make it alkali resistant.
  • Easy to spread mortar on – SpiderLath uses a twisted weave and has a smooth, stiff coating.
  • Easy to transport – Weighs only 20 lbs per 300 sq.ft. roll. This is equivalent to 18 sheets of 2.5 metal lath, which would weigh about 90 lbs.
  • Easy to use – cuts with scissors or a knife. Lath scratches and cuts are eliminated.
  • Stronger Wall – encapsulating SpiderLath with cementitious material gives you a fiberglass reinforced coating that is strong and flexible.
  • Versatile – can be installed horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Strong enough to use with heavy weight products such as 3 coat stucco and natural stone veneer.

Lath Installation

SpiderLath is designed to be a replacement alternative for metal lath. Because it is made of AR fiberglass it offers several installation advantages and cost savings. Unlike the SpiderLath Fiberglass Lath System, metal lath installation is heavy, difficult to use and can easily cut the installer.

Installation Benefits

Because of the size of each roll (4 ft. x 75 ft.) and the ease at which the installer can unroll, stretch and fasten a roll, the installation time
(labor costs) are cut by 30
to 60%.

  • Easy to transport. Weighing only 20 lbs. per roll (300 sq.ft.), this equivalent to 18 sheets of 2.5 lath which would weight about 90 lbs. Try carrying 18 sheets of lath on your shoulder up two sections of scaffolding.

  • Very versatile allowing the installer to install it horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

  • Easy to use, cuts with scissors or knife. Lath scratches and cuts are eliminated because Spiderlath leaves no sharp edges to cut the installer.

  • A thin coat of stiffening material is added to the fiberglass mesh to make the product easier to handle and faster to install.

Testimonials

We do a lot of stucco applications on chimneys and ICF walls and veneer stone applications that all require galvanized wire mesh to attach the stucco or thin set to the substrate. This stuff is very unpleasant to work with and can lead to moisture migration into the wall. SpiderLath is a fiberglass lathe with rubber gaskets that you nail through to attach it to the wall so you will not have leaks through the fastener penetration and it comes in a 4’ x 75’ light weight roll that is very easy to work with and corrosion proof. It solves a difficult problem in a very elegant way.

Michael, Chandler Design Build

My name is Paul from Western Michigan University concrete canoe team. You sent us a sample of your product SpiderLath and we love it! It is a far better product then any other mesh we've tested. We would really like to use it as reinforcement in our concrete canoe. We will also send you more pictures we actually build the canoe. Thanks again for your help and we love your product.

April 18, 2008, Waterville, Ohio.
(customer of Kuhlman Corp., Toledo, Ohio) applying SpiderLath for the first time. Following are some of the comments from Dan and his assistant as they worked with SpiderLath.

“Cuts like butter. No sharp edges. Nails up nice and quick”
“Far less cutting and less pieces to deal with.”
“Easier to trowel over than metal lath.”
“Simple to trim around windows and make cuts for electrical wiring.”
“Takes mortar better along the edge.”
“Metal lath tends to vibrate on the edges and makes it difficult for mortar to hang on it.”
“We don’t have to figure which way is up or down on the lath.”

"I really like your product it's been working very well, thanks a lot for you help. Our workers like working with the much lighter, easier to use material as well. They're not getting any cuts on their hands from the metal and it's much, much easier to cut. So i just thought i'd say thanks, and that i'm happy the wait is over. I was getting really tired of the metal."

John, Quarry Stone Ltd.

"I save OVER 50% on my installation labor costs when I use SpiderLath! The ease of installation is unbelieveable and a lot safer than the old metal lath. I will only recommend and use SpiderLath!"
